Joint Enterprise Bargaining Statement
Dear Colleagues
The Enterprise Bargaining negotiations continued on 28 February and 1 March, in relation to a proposed replacement agreement(s) to cover the terms and conditions of employment for Academic, General and English Language Centre staff.
News came on the first day of bargaining that the University was successful in its bid for the first round of HEWRRs funding (for 2006), which was based on the University offering AWAs and having HEWRR compliant policies and procedures in place, as at the 30 November 2005 deadline.
What we are now working towards is a HEWRR compliant Enterprise Agreement to meet the 2007 (and beyond) funding. As information is forthcoming from other universities who have successfully met the HEWRRs requirements regarding their own enterprise agreements, this will no doubt influence and inform the current bargaining process at UNE.
The unions and staff representatives have reaffirmed that they are prepared to work towards a HEWRR's Agreement(s) and request that the University remove its non-HEWRR issues from the table.

The next meeting of the bargaining teams has been scheduled for 21 & 22 March, 2006, and regularly thereafter.
