EB Information Sessions

Dear Colleagues

By now, you may have heard that EB negotiations concluded at the end of June. Since then, we have been busy finalising the draft document so that we can present it to you all, and forwarding the proposed Agreement to the Department of Employment, Science and Training (for checking of HEWRRS compliance) and the Office of the Employment Advocate for a pre-lodgement check of WorkChoices “prohibited content”.

We now have the proposed draft Agreement up on the Web for your perusal and consideration at www.une.edu.au/hrs/eb/agreement.doc

Arrangements have been made for information sessions to be held around campus over the next few weeks, in order to inform staff about the new proposed Agreement, and answer the many questions you may have. At this stage, the following dates, times and locations have been organised:

Kristin Adair and Frank Strbik (Senior Industrial Relations Officer), along with an NTEU representative, will be presenting at each session.  Supervisors please note that this is a legitimate work activity, which staff are entitled to attend during paid work time.

In addition, staff may wish to request group sessions within their own Cost Centres, or can individually approach any of the bargaining team members for information regarding the proposed Agreement.  Please see the EB web page for contact details of the bargaining teams: http://www.une.edu.au/hrs/eb/eb_teams.htm   Alternatively, you can make a time, or contact Industrial Relations staff through Sarah Collister (ext. 3738).

Any staff member with special needs, such as language, hearing, vision or other specific requirements, should contact Sarah on ext. 3738 , and arrangements will be made to accommodate the various needs .

At this stage, we are expecting to hold a vote for the new Agreement around mid August, which will meet the timeframe for the HEWRRs deadline of 31 August, 2006.  More details on this in due course.

We look forward to seeing you at one of the information sessions.
