Transitional Heads of Schools Expressions of Interest

Dear Colleagues

In accordance with Section 6, ‘Consultation and Timeline for implementation’ of the draft Workplace Change document, expressions of interest are invited for nine positions of Transitional Head of School. The position description is located at Attachment Fourteen of the draft Workplace Change document which can be found at http://www.une.edu.au/hrs/AcademicReorg18May2007.doc.

In the event that there are any changes to the draft Head of School position description as a result of consultation, any such changes will be discussed with those staff members who have expressed an interest in the positions.

Expressions of interest are called for Transitional Head of School for the following proposed schools as set out in the first draft of the Workplace Change document:

School of Arts;

School of Behavioural, Cognitive and Social Sciences;

School of Humanities;

School of Environmental and Rural Science;

School of Science and Technology;

School of Business, Economics and Leadership;

School of Law;

School of Education; and

School of Health.

(note that the position of Head of School of the new School of Rural Medicine is subject to a  separate process)

The appointments will be for up to one year, remunerated at level E plus a loading, and will commence on 19 July 2007. Only those staff who currently hold the title of Professor will be eligible to have the title of Professor upon appointment to the position of Transitional Head of School. Details of the composition of the selection panel will be provided prior to the closing date.

Expressions of interest should be submitted to the Office of the Vice-Chancellor by 5pm on Friday 15 June 2007. The university reserves the right to call for referees at a subsequent time.
