YABSLEY DIARIES Microfilm copies of the following: (a) Diary of William Yabsley Sr. (4 vol.), 1871-1872, 1875, 1877 (b) Diary of William Yabsley Jr. (21 vol.), 1902-1922. Entries in the 1902-1922 diary are very brief a day per line, and a month per page. The diary ends o n 29 May l922, after the writer (then aged 79) had noted every day for a week that he was ill. See also Diary of William Yabsley, 1863-1902 (as copied by his son Arthur H. Yabsley in 1948) to which the microfilm described above forms a sequel. (See A459). Born in Devonshire, England, William Yabsley Sr., (1812-1880) came to New South Wales as a ship's carpenter aboard HMS Beagle (1837-1838). He left the Beagle in Sydney and, from 1838, worked as a cedar-getter on the Clarence river. He later moved to the Richmond where he became a leading shipbuilder and timber merchant, first at Ballina later at Coraki. Wm. Yabsley Jr. (born 10th March, 1843) was the eldest of the shipbuilder's four sons. Like his father he prospered in the timber trade. 2 reels mfm. 1871-1877, 1902-1922 A120
YABSLEY, WILLIAM JR., DIARY MS. Copy (xeroxed), in one large volume, of the Diary of Wm. Yabsley Jr. (for the period 13th March, 1863 to 18th March, 1902). This version of the diary bears the introductory note: "This is a facsimile of William Yabsley's Diary written by his son Arthu r Henry in the year 1948". For a sequel to this diary, covering the period 1902-22 see accession A120/Mfm 7. Born 10th March, 1843, eldest son of Yabsley the shipbuilder, the diarist worked under his father in the shipbuilding business and later prospered in the timber trade. 1 Volume. 1863-1902 A459

YULGILBAR, UPPER COPMAN-HURST The earliest records in this group go back to the period when Edward D.S. Ogilvie was the proud owner of the rich and extensive pastoral station "Yulgilbar" in the fertile valley of the Clarence river. The records include: stud books 1859-75; ledgers 1876 , 1887 and 1894-5; a journal, 1896-7; branding book, 1869-74 and cattle sale book, 1874-5 (in the one volume); a horse book, 1901-18; letterbook, 1904-9 (containing press-copies of correspondence signed by the station manager, J.
