TAMWORTH: ARTICLE ENTITLED THE JEWS OF TAMWORTH. Photostatic copy of an article entitled "The Jews of Tamworth" by Rabbi Dr. Israel Porush. The article was originally read before the Australian Jewish History Society on the 31st of August, 1950 and published in a volume of the Australian Jewish History Society Journal, c.1952. Also included in this copy of the Australian Jewish History Society Journal is a section entitled "The Jews of Tamworth - Supplemental Notes" by A.,M. TAMWORTH MUNICIPAL COUNCIL: RECORDS Copies of the ledgers of the Tamworth Muncipal Council which contain the record of the categorised business and financial dealings of the Council between 1876 and 1925. Only one assessment book, for the year 1876, and one Water rate register, for the yea r 1903, are contained in this collection. The cash book also contains the records of a relatively short period of time from July of 1905 to December of 1908. The rate books, however, run for the years 1877 to 1910 and 1913 to 1924. The valuation books also have a large number of volumes encompassing the years 1911 to 1914, 1918 and 1923 to 1925. 38 Microfiche. 1876-1925 A614
TANCRED BROTHERS PTY. LTD., BOURKE: RECORDS There are only two items in this accession: (i) Wage sheets, 1 July 1941 - 31 Mar. 1942. They list names of employees, amount of wages paid and tax deducted. Staff are grouped on the wage sheets by location and function: beef slaughter house, gut house , drovers, hides and sheepskins, tallow house, engine room staff, etc. (ii) Tender (with specifications) for air-conditioning equipment for Messrs. Tancred Bros. Ltd., Bourke (1938). The tender is submitted by Richard Wildridge & Co. Ltd., Refrigerating Engineers, Sydney. The required equipment comprised a hot beef chiller and a mutton chiller. 2 items 1938, 1941-42. A160

TELFER REMINISCENCES Multiple roneo-ed TS. Copies of the reminiscences of William Telfer Jr., Who was born at Calala (West Tamworth) in July 1841, was the son of the first manager of "Warrah", in the employ of the Australian Agricultural Company under 'Commissioner' Parry. Th e reminiscences relate to the period from the 1840's to the years after Federation. The original manuscript from which these copies were made is in the UNE Archives (A147/ V213). It was found among papers deposited by Gen. J.M.L. MacDonald in 1961, and fo r more than a decade after that was known as "the shepherd's diary" or "the Wallabadah MS.", Until the identity of the author was definitely established in 1972. 120 pages per copy. c.1903 A147b

TELFER, WILLIAM JR.: REMINISCENCES The original manuscript of these reminiscences is held in the Mitchell Library, Sydney (ML A2376). It is interesting to compare this version of the reminiscences with the so-called "Wallabadah Manuscript", the original of which is held at UNE (See A147/V 213). 1916 A380
TELFER, WILLIAM: ARTICLE An article entitled William Telfer in Australia (1825-1850) and his Association with the Australian Agricultural Company. The article was written by Mrs. Beverley Wilson in 1976. Mrs. Wilson is the great-great-granddaughter of William Telfer. 1 Folder. 1976 A697a

TENTERFIELD AND COOLOOTAI RECORDS A collection of letterbooks and accounts from "Tenterfield" and "Coolootai" stations. From "Tenterfield" there are some accounts for the period 1900-07. There is also a register of conditional purchases (c.l900). From "Coolootai" we hold: letterbook (2 vo ls., 1902-03, 1917 and 1902-05), a storebook (1894-97), woolbooks (16 vols., With gaps, 1922-50) ledger, journal and cashbook (1894-1910). There is also a letterbook (1900-09) whose contents relate to both stations. 26 vols. 1894-1950. A227
TENTERFIELD DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY PAPERS A varied collection of material from the Tenterfield District Historical Society dating from 1835 to 1958. Included in this material are the records of the Tenterfield District Historical Society, itself, as well as numerous pamphlets, articles and broch ures about the Tenterfield District and its history. The collection is also enhanced by the correspondences of the both the Historical Society and individuals in the area throughout this time period 1835-1958. A186

TERRIBLE VALE STATION AND TAYLOR FAMILY RECORDS The record group consists of (i) pastoral records relating to the day-to-day running of the sheep station "Terrible Vale" at Kentucky, near Armidale from 1840 to 1916; these records include wool books (10 vol.), 1848-64; ledgers (7 vol.) 1877-1907; a pri vate ledger (2 vol.), 1894-1916; sheep returns (7 vol.) 1876-1907; a letterbook (press-copies), 1886-1912; also rations, stores and wages books. (ii) legal papers and related correspondence concerning the purchase of "Terrible Vale" from R.R. Mackenzie by William Tydd Taylor and Richard Middleton, and the subsequent dissolution (in 1843) of the latter partnership; also papers re boundary disputes and many other matters. THOMPSON RECOLLECTIONS The recollections of Mrs. Florence Thompson, nee Ensor (typescript). Written in 1972 when she was in her ninetieth year. They provide a description of her family's migration from South Africa to Australia, and their arrival in Sydney in 1882. Also their s ubsequent move to Inverell where they settled on a selection called "Cradock" near Graman, and, in later years, her work for the Methodist Church in Sydney and at Seaforth. 8 pp. 1972 A398

TIA/ YARROWITCH DRAFT FINDINGS OF LOCAL HISTORY TIA/ YARROWITCH A typescript history of European settlement in the Yarrowitch valley from its discovery by John Ox1ey on the 17th of September, 18l8 to the year of publication, l965. Yarrowitch is a small farming and grazing community, situated on the edge of the New En gland tableland, thirty miles from Walcha. The author of this article is unknown. 1965 A543

TOWNER, GEORGE, DIARIES The diaries contain a fairly detailed account of Towner's daily activities as a settler and family-man, during his long life in the Richmond Valley. [Note: The record group contains two diaries written by Emma Towner for the years 1947-1951, and a single volume by George Towner Jnr., Dated 1915] Born at Congewai, near Cessnock, N.S.W., George Towner went to the Richmond River district at the age of 15, where he worked at timber-getting and road-building. In 1878 he married Emma Barlow of Alstonville. He s elected land at Meerschaum (Rous Hill) and lived there until 1924 when he retired to Ballina, where he died aged 91 years. His wife Emma died in 1951, aged 94. 1881-1951 A169
