PAGE PAPERS A large and highly miscellaneous collection of papers accumulated over nearly 60 years in the life of an eminent and many-sided Australian. Speeches, press-releases, correspondence and notes on medical, political, social, economic and family matters conce rning Earle Page at various times in his long career. A provisional list (ts, 7pp.) Is available in the Archives. Sir Earle Christmas Grafton Page, K.C.M.G., (1880-1961) was born in Grafton N.S.W. Educated at Grafton Public and Sydney High Schools and at the University of Sydney (which he entered at the unusually early age of 15 years), Page studied medicine, graduating M.B., Ch.M. In 1938 he had become a Privy Councillor and spent much of his time during the second world war in London. Of special significance to members of the University of New England is the fact that Earle Page was the first Chairman of the New England University College Council and First Chancellor of the University when it became autonomous in 1954.
