ELLEM FAMILY TREE: BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES ON RICHARD ELLEM OF LANCASHIRE COUNTY, ENGLAND & HIS AUSTRALIAN DESCENDANTS An annotated family tree of the first, second and third generations of the Ellem family. EVERETT, GEORGE, DIARY, 15 JUNE 1838-30 OCTOBER 1838 The diary of George Everett begins on the day that he and his brother John sailed from London to Melbourne and Sydney aboard the vessel Hope. The entries cease around the 30th of October, 1838, which is the day before the shipping records state that the H ope entered Sydney Harbour The Everett brothers subsequently left Sydney aboard the Maitland arriving at Newcastle on the 12th of November, 1838. EVERY ESTATE PAPERS Documents dealing with the management of the estate of George Every (died 15 Jul. 1904). He owned a sheep farm a few miles out of Glen Innes, known as "Cherry Tree Hill". The farm and the Imperial Hotel in Glen Innes, with which he was associated, were bo th leased by his family after his death. The correspondence of W.S. Johnstone (executor and trustee) with lawyers, members of the Every family, the lessee of the farm and others, covers 1904-11 and 1917-35; and various account books, including a Ledger, c ash and receipt book, cheque butts and bank books, cover 1904-57. As well, there are detailed plans of the hotel by Chapman, architect of Inverell (n.d.)
