| CHAFFEY PAPERS |
The majority of this material is comprised of political and administrative correspondences with a particularly strong emphasis on primary industry. These include letters between Mr. Chaffey and primary industry lobby groups, government departments, sporting, cultural and education organisations and institutions as well as individual constituents. There are also some personal papers which contain both photographs and bibliographical information. William Adolphus Chaffey (1915-1987) was the Member of State Parliament for Tamworth from 1940 until 1973. He was Deputy Minister for the New South Wales Country Party from 1959-1968. | CHEVY CHASE, ARMIDALE: RECORDS | This volume is primarily one of miscellaneous accounts. It was used at various times to record income and expenditure re stores, rations, wages, shearing, stock, fencing and other improvements "Haroldston", "Wilford" and "Enmore" all Perrott properties in the Armidale district. Note: the first 30 pages were used (1862-65) by Robert Issell Perrott, in his official capacity as Registrar and Clerk of the Peace at Armidale, to record salary and expenses of Judge H.R. Francis, registrars, bailiffs and other officials of the Justice Department in Armidale, Tamworth, Wingham, Port Macquarie, West Kempsey, Grafton, Tenterfield and Glen Innes. The even numbered pages (pp. 290-298) contain notes of an historical-philosophical or cosmological nature. These notes were written by A.H. Perrott in 1934, when in his seventies. | COLLY CREEK STATION, WILLOW TREE: RECORDS | The comprehensive station records of the pastoral property Colly Creek from the 1890's to 1956. The business correspondences and papers of the property date further back in time and begin in the decade of the 1850's. The extensive collection of letters of the Weatherly family, who purchased the property in 1897, also begin in this time period and continue on through for a century. Prior to its sale in 1955, Colly Creek Station comprised some 36,000 acres of land which had been taken up by Andrew and George Loder around 1837. Within a few years, George Loder gave up his interest in the station and it remained solely in the hands of Andrew until his death. The station was renowned for its good cattle and Andrew Loder was amongst the first to breed Herefords in Australia. Upon acquiring the property in 1897, William Weatherly of Melbourne continued this tradition by establishing a Hereford Stud in the 1920's. 30 | 1854-1956 | A183 |

| CORAKI SCHOOL OF ARTS: RECORDS | The main series is minute books of the Coraki School of Arts and Literary Institute (4 vols), 1900-31. The records of the Institute also include a subscribers' register (1928-37) and a library catalogue and accessions register (circa 1927-51); also the minutes of an affiliated group the Coraki Debating Society, in two volumes (1912-15 and 1915-18). At a Special General Meeting held on 8th December 1913, the rules of the old School of Arts were altered and the name of the organisation changed to The Coraki Literary Institute. The stated objects of the Institute were: "the mental and moral improvement and rational recreation of its members which shall be carried out by the opening of a library and reading room, the holding of lectures, readings and debates" etc. A new School of Arts building was officially opened in Coraki on 10th December, 1913. 8 vols. | 1900-1951 | A208 |
