A small but interesting accession. It contains miscellaneous accounts (1831-51); a daybook (1838-62) and a station diary (1878); all relate to the Bettington property "Brindley Park", Merriwa. The earlier account book has wages, rations and slop accounts; shoemaker's and blacksmith's accounts; wool weights; sheep slaughtered, and sheep sent to the Castlereagh; and accounts of goods lent to, and borrowed from, other gentlemen in the colony. It is clear from the records that the property was being worked with the help of a considerable number of assigned servants. 3 vols |
