The agreement relates to the purchase of Walter's interest in the stations, runs and stock which were held jointly by all three brothers in the Warrego and New England districts. BANANA GROWERS' FEDERATION, MURWILLUMBAH: RECORDS 1918-1963. Records of the Banana Growers' Federation Cooperative Ltd. (formerly, until 1932, the Tweed Fruitgrowers' Co. Ltd.) Of Murwillumbah on the far north coast of New South Wales. The accession includes: minute books (5 vols), 1918-46; annual reports and balance sheets, 1934-44, 1948-9, 1951-4 and 1956-63. There is also a booklet entitled "The Triumph of Science" published by the Tweed Banana Growers Association, in April 1930, which describes the rehabilitation of the banana industry on the Tweed river, after the disastrous setback caused by bunchy top disease in the period 1922-28. 5 vols, l envelope. 1918-1963 A238
BANGATE STATION, NORTH WALGETT: RECORDS The administrative and accounting records for the pastoral property of Bangate from the years 1899 to 1954. The greater part of this material is made up of the ledgers containing both the day to day and general yearly transactions associated with Bangate station. BEACON MINE PHOTOGRAPHS These photographs throw light on various aspects of mining activity at the Beacon, Perseverance and Reward Mines: bullock teams; mine machinery; buildings; men at work. One photograph shows part of a village of 430 people at Beacon Mine, 1896-1900. The photographs include one of the manager's wife and children sitting on the front steps of their residence, and a group photograph of schoolchildren at the Upper Bucca Bucca Public School. BETTER COMMUNICATIONS LEAGUE: RECORDS Minutes, correspondence, reports, maps, brochures, political speeches, submissions, newspaper clippings and other papers related to the activities of the League in forwarding its aims and objectives. According to its constitution, those objects were: "to take whatever steps may be necessary or desirable to obtain better communications for the northern portion of this State, but with initial emphasis on the completion of a) a new, modern highway between Glen Innes and Grafton, b) the construction of a deep sea port at Iluka c) the building of a railway linking Inverell and Glen Innes." BLAXLAND, CHARLES R., AND OTHERS: PHOTOGRAPHS Three photographs of Charles R. Blaxland, which may be dated, roughly and provisionally, c.1860, c.1900 and c.1920. The remaining items include photographs of Charles W. Marsh (n.d.) And Edwin Blomfield (1901), and an interior view probably of Blaxland's home at "Wollun", Uralla (c.1899). BODY, EDMUND CUTHBERT, DIARIES AND BUSINESS RECORDS The diaries record the everyday events of life on a sheep station, giving an account of work in progress as well as details of family life. Some of the early diaries include shearing tallies showing dates, names of shearers employed and the numbers shorn by each. The tallies are for 1884, 1885 and 1897 and all relate to Jindabyne station. Born in Devonshire, England in 1843, Edmund Cuthbert Body came to Australia with his father (F. E. Body) in 1850. He married Catherine Campbell of Inverell in 1880, and subsequently took up "Jindabyne" station, near Mt. Kosciusko. After 20 years he sold "Jindabyne", and in partnership with his sons owned "Strathbogie", "Ulupna" and "Mole Vale" in the New England region. 214 cm. 1884-1930 A134
BOLIVIA STATION: RECORDS Two letters from Florence M. Irby to Archdeacon Stammer, of Armidale, written at "Narrango" Station, Casino, one dated 5 Jul. 1945 and the other, 19th Aug. 1945(?), In answer to his enquiry about church history in Tenterfield. (The August letter contains information about the private cemetery, weddings etc. At "Bolivia" based on Irby family papers in her possession. Enclosed with it are handwritten copies of articles from the "Tenterfield Star", 21 Oct. 1910, 28 Nov. 1921.) Another letter, also addressed to Archdeacon Stammer, is from Edith Irby, dated 21 Oct. 1945, thanking him for sending her newspaper clippings of extracts from her diary. BRINDLEY PARK, MERRIWA: RECORDS A small but interesting accession. It contains miscellaneous accounts (1831-51); a daybook (1838-62) and a station diary (1878); all relate to the Bettington property "Brindley Park", Merriwa. The earlier account book has wages, rations and slop accounts; shoemaker's and blacksmith's accounts; wool weights; sheep slaughtered, and sheep sent to the Castlereagh; and accounts of goods lent to, and borrowed from, other gentlemen in the colony. It is clear from the records that the property was being worked with the help of a considerable number of assigned servants. 3 vols 1831-1862, 1878. A229
BRINDLEY PARK, MERRIWA: RECORDS This accession, from the pastoral property of J.B. Bettington in the Upper Hunter district, contains only two volumes. Viz. (i) Station Journal of Accounts (1877-82, 1891-7); and (ii) Station Diary, 1887. The gap in the Journal for 1882-91 is unexplained. The diary (probably penned by Bettington himself) contains quite detailed references to the daily business of the station. The writer also has occasion to remark upon the weather, horse-racing and his current state of health. 2 vol 1877-1897 A136

BROOKS, CHRISTIANA, OF DENHAM COURT, LETTERS Letters written to friends and family by Christiana Brooks at "Denham Court", 1825-27 (copied by hand into a letterbook). "Denham Court was, at that time, a property near Liverpool owned by her husband Richard Brooks, a merchant, landowner and prominent settler of N.S.W. in the first quarter of the nineteenth century. One of their daughters married Thomas Blomfield (who settled in the Monaro district). Mrs Brooks' letterbook was received from a Mr Blomfield of Quirindi in 1975. It contains approx. 54 letters. BUCKERIDGE, E.J., DIARY The diary of the journey by sea and train that the Buckeridges took through the South Pacific and to North America in 1936. Included within the diary are a large number of photographs and souvenirs from the various locations along the way. 1 Diary. 1936 A671
BUCKLEY FAMILY OF ARMIDALE AND FITZGERALD FAMILY OF URALLA: PAPERS The birth, death and marriage records of the Buckley family of Mindawanda, Armidale and the Fitzgerald family of Uralla. Among theses records can be found a detailed family history compiled by Kathleen Buckley. The collection also includes a number of school certificates as well as many photographs of various members of the Buckley family. George Buckley (1830-1896), a carpenter and builder from Huddersfield in Yorkshire, married Margaret Griffith (1837-1897) of Armidale at the Church of Scotland, Armidale in 1863. In 1874 they had a son, James Henry, who worked as a building contractor with his father. He married Catherine Fitzgerald, the daughter of Thomas and Bridget Fitzgerald, in 1906. The Fitzgeralds had immigrated to N.S.W. from County Clare, Ireland in 1860. 1 Folder, 2 large photographs (missing). c.1890-1950 A612
