Dr. Vahideh Hosseini
Vahideh was born in Iran (Persia). Due to religious persecution she had to flee her country for the relative safety of India where she was granted refugee status by the United Nations.
She completed her University studies (Bachelors Degree in Economics, Masters Degree in Regional Planning and Doctor of Philosophy in Economics) in India.
In 1987 she migrated with her family to Australia with the help and the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Soon after her arrival she was employed by the Australian National Consultative Committee on Refugee Women, and then by the Department of Immigration.
At present, she is working for Red Cross - the Regional Manager for Northern NSW
She has been presented with the Red Cross Service Award – 1999
Red Cross Long Service Award - 2003.
Outstanding Employee Award - 2002
Federation of Ethnic Community Council of Australia Award - 2005
