GSB 707 Fundamentals of E-Business
This unit gives students an overview of various aspects of e-commerce and e-business from a managerial perspective. Whilst it is acknowledged that networked computing is the infrastructure for the various types of e-commerce this is not a computing course rather there is an assumption that you are already use the computer as part of your daily life and that this working knowledge is sufficient to complete this unit. This unit is about the issues which impact on the management of business as a result of the introduction/use of e-commerce. Specifically the unit focuses on the following:
- The diversity of electronic marketplaces
- The role of intermediaries
- The models of electronic procurement
- The intersection of EC and supply chain management
- Security issues
- Regulatory issues
- Future trends
The unit is taught using a combination of print materials supplemented by an online component, which is used for contact with the lecturer and other students, discussion and some assessment tasks.
