Graduate Diploma in Accounting

The Graduate Diploma in Accounting is a course that will service the needs of students requiring up to eight units for accreditation with the professional accounting bodies. It can serve as an entry and exit point for the Master of Professional Accounting. The course comprises eight units (that is 48 credit points) and is usually used to supplement existing studies in accounting to satisfy the entry requirements of the professional accounting organisations. Subjects are drawn from the Master of Professional Accounting and may cover introductory as well as advanced units in accounting, finance, systems, law, auditing, economics and business statistics. The course is accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, CPA Australia and the National Institute of Accountants.

Admission

Applicants for admission shall:
  • (a) have fulfilled all the requirements for admission to a degree or qualification of equivalent standing at this or another university or tertiary institution; OR
  • (b) have completed the Graduate Certificate in Accounting or any approved Graduate Certificate.

In addition, applicants must provide evidence of at least three years work experience in a field of employment approved by the Program Director of the GSB.

Requirements

To satisfy the requirements for the Graduate Diploma, a candidate must complete eight GSB units from the Master of Professional Accounting Course. Students must complete the Diploma in no more than twelve trimesters as a part time student.

Students may complete any four units from the list of units available, with due consideration of prerequisites requirements.
