Graduate Certificate in Accounting
The Graduate Certificate in Accounting is a course that will service the needs of students requiring four or less units for accreditation with the professional accounting bodies. It can serve as an entry and exit point for the Master of Professional Accounting. The course comprises four units (that is 24 credit points) and is usually used to supplement existing studies in accounting to satisfy the entry requirements of the professional accounting organisations. Subjects are drawn from the Master of Professional Accounting and may cover introductory as well as advanced units in accounting, finance, systems, law, auditing, economics and business statistics. The course is accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, CPA Australia and the National Institute of Accountants.
Admission
• Applicants for admission to candidature for the Graduate Certificate in Accounting shall:
- (a) have fulfilled all the requirements for admission to a three-year degree or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the faculty as sufficient qualification for admission to candidature; or
- (b)satisfy the faculty by means of other qualifications and relevant experience of adequate preparation for candidature..
In addition, applicants must provide evidence of at least three years work experience in a field of employment approved by the Program Director of the GSB.
Requirements
To satisfy the requirements for the Graduate Certificate, a candidate must complete four GSB units from the Master of Professional Accounting Course. Students must complete the Certificate in no more than six trimesters as a part time student.
Students may complete any four units from the list of units available, with due consideration of prerequisites requirements.
