Graduate Diploma in Accounting
The Graduate Diploma in Accounting is a course that will service the needs of students requiring up to eight units for accreditation with the professional accounting bodies. It can serve as an entry and exit point for the Master of Professional Accounting. The course comprises eight units (that is 48 credit points) and is usually used to supplement existing studies in accounting to satisfy the entry requirements of the professional accounting organisations. Subjects are drawn from the Master of Professional Accounting and may cover introductory as well as advanced units in accounting, finance, systems, law, auditing, economics and business statistics. The course is accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and CPA Australia.
2012 Course Structure
To satisfy the requirements for the Graduate Diploma in Accounting, a candidate must complete eight units from the Master of Professional Accounting Course. Students must complete the Diploma in no more than twelve trimesters as a part time student.
Students may complete any eight units from the following list, with due consideration of prerequisites requirements.
Suggested study plan
Students may select units depending on their preferred mode of study. Part time students may choose to undertake only one unit per trimester with due consideration of prerequisite requirements. This information can be found in the Course and Unit Catalogue.

Entry Requirements
Applicants for admission to candidature for the Graduate Diploma in Accounting must have:
- have fulfilled all the requirements for admission to a degree or qualification of equivalent standing at this or another university or tertiary institution; OR
- have completed the Graduate Certificate in Accounting or any approved Graduate Certificate.
In addition, applicants must provide evidence of at least three years appropriate experience in a field of employment approved by the Director of the GSB.
