Graduate Certificate in Financial Services
This program is carefully designed to provide a comprehensive study and analysis of the knowledge and skills applicable to a career in the financial services industry, in particular, the focus is on financial planning.
The student will have the opportunity to systematically study a multifaceted and comprehensive selection of themes including financial planning, managing wealth, estate planning, risk management, the stock market, investment and portfolio management, modern portfolio theory, financial analysis, taxation, superannuation, mutual funds, applied economics, social benefits, insurance, selling and sales techniques, and relevant private and corporate law.
The program will:
- provide a thorough awareness, grounding and analysis of financial planning and the associated theories;
- demonstrate the application of the theory of finance and financial planning; and

require students to apply their knowledge to real world problems and projects.

All candidates without a first degree must enrol initially in the Graduate Certificate and achieve at least a credit average grade in the four units taken to be permitted to continue to the Graduate Diploma or Masters program. |

Suggested study plan
Students may select units depending on their preferred mode of study. Part time students may choose to undertake only one unit per trimester with due consideration of prerequisite requirements. This information can be found in the Course and Unit Catalogue.

Entry Requirements
Applicants for admission to candidature for the Graduate Certificate in Financial Services must have:
- have completed a three-year degree or an equivalent qualification at UNE or another recognised tertiary institution; or
- satisfy the Faculty by means of other qualifications and relevant experience of adequate preparation for candidature.
In addition, applicants must provide evidence of at least three years appropriate experience in a field of employment approved by the Director of the GSB.
