Advanced Standing

If you have completed units at postgraduate level  at another institution, or in a different degree at UNE, you may apply for credit which may reduce the time it will take to complete your degree. The University may grant credit for formal study undertaken in recognised tertiary institutions in Australia and overseas institutions.

Future Applicants

If you are applying for credit and you are currently enrolled in a course and will not receive results before the closing date for online admission, please apply for all units, even the ones you are currently enrolled in at the other institution. Once you have completed all units you need to provide a completed certified transcript. Please note advanced standing will not be finalised until the complete transcript is received.

UNE Students Transferring within UNE

If you are a UNE student transferring courses within UNE you must submit an online advanced standing application for your units to be transferred to the new degree. You must also include a study program.

Submission of the Advanced Standing Application

Applications for credit may be lodged at any time. However, applications lodged after the advertised close of online admission may not be processed prior to the commencement of the trimester to which you are seeking admission. If applications are incomplete or incorrect you will be sent an email to advise that your application will not be processed until you have resubmitted a complete and correct application.

Please use the following form when applying for Advanced Standing - Advanced Standing Application Form

All applications submitted to the Graduate School of Business must contain the following:

  • Completed Advanced Standing Application Form
  • A Program of Study indicating which units in your UNE proposed degree you are seeking credit based on your previous studies.  To assist with this planning go to the GSB Website and view the program you are seeking enrolment into.
  • A complete certified academic transcript showing all grades (If you are a UNE student applying for credit for UNE units you are not required to provide a certified academic transcript)
  • Unit outlines including the following: description of the unit, aims, objectives, assessments, unit weighting, a list of reference books and textbooks
  • If you are a UNE student transferring courses within UNE, you are only required to submit an advanced standing application form and a study plan.

The maximum advanced standing granted for units that have been successfully completed towards a postgraduate qualification at this or another university or institution is up to 50 percent of a program.

Each application is assessed on its own merits, applicants must provide documentation to support their application for advanced standing in each unit.

No advanced standing will be granted for units completed as part of an undergraduate award.
