Student Associations
Currently the Undergrads of New England Guild (UNEG) and the Postgrads at UNE (Postgrads) act as sister organisations representing the students to the University and support the undergraduate and postgraduate students that sit on UNE's Council and the Academic Board. Despite the overarching framework, the associations believe that they face some serious problems and are seeking to develop a unified student association that represents all students at UNE.

Special General Meetings for both the undergraduate and postgraduate student associations
Both of the current student associations have decided to put a number of resolutions to students in order to move forward with the development of a unified student association. These resolutions will be introduced, considered and voted upon at a Special General Meeting of each association.
Resolutions to be voted upon:
1. Endorse the vision, values and purpose of the new student association, found by following the links on this webpage, above.
2. That the students endorse the proposal for a unified student association representing all students at UNE.
3. That the current Executive committees of each of UNEG and UNE Postgrads be authorised to do all things necessary to:
- prepare and approve the constitution of the new association
- incorporate the new association to replace the two existing associations
- arrange the first elections of the new association at the start of Trimester 2, 2013.
4. That students acknowledge the current constitutions are unworkable and are constraining the associations from achieving their desired purpose, values and goals.
Special general meetings:
On 21 March, 2013 at 6.00pm in Arts Lecture Theatre 1, the Undergraduates of New England Guild held a Special General Meeting to vote upon the proposal to move to a single student organisation and vote upon the resolutions outlined above. The resolutions were passed at the meeting, unopposed.
A Special General Meeting of the Postgraduates Association has also been scheduled to allow members to vote upon the proposal to move to a single student organisation and to consider and vote upon the resolutions above. The meeting will be held on 16 April, 2013 at 5.30pm in Arts Lecture Theatre 1.
