Associate Professor Jeanne Madison
Associate Professor Jeanne Madison is in her second term as one of two elected academic staff representatives on the UNE Council, joining the Council in 2006.
Her academic career began when she came to UNE in 1991 after a 20 year career in California hospitals as a Registered Nurse, the last eleven years in hospital management and executive roles. She was awarded a Kellogg Fellowship during her Masters in Public Health program at the University of Minnesota and was awarded her PhD at UNE in 1999.
Associate Professor Madison has been the UNE Head of School of Health from 2002 to January 2009. She has lectured and researched in the area of health management, organisational leadership, equity and diversity. She has supervised 14 UNE post-graduate research students to completion, is currently supervising an additional 10 and has over 50 domestic and international journal publications and conference presentations.
Since 2005 she has been a minister’s appointment to the Executive Committee of the NSW Institute for Rural Clinical Services and Teaching; a committee responsible for funding over $4 million dollars in rural and regional health services and research.
Associate Professor Madison is an active participant in the International Nursing Honour Society, Sigma Theta Tau serving on committees linked to her international teaching and research experience and expertise.
