Dr Col Gellatly
Dr Col Gellatly finished a long and distinguished career in the NSW Public Sector in May 2007. His final position held was as Director-General of the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet.
Dr Gellatly served eighteen years as the Director-General of the Premiers’ Department, serving three Premiers. He has been Director-General of the Department of Land and Water Conservation and Director-General of the Department of Industrial Relations, Employment, Training and Further Education.
Dr Gellatly started his career as an Agricultural Economist after graduating from the University of New England in Agricultural Economics in 1972. His involvement in Public Sector Management for the NSW Department of Agriculture followed this.
Dr Gellatly’s contribution to the NSW Public Sector has been recognized nationally. In 1997 he was made Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration of Australia and in 2007 joined as Fellow with the Australian New Zealand Graduate School of Government. In June 2008 he was awarded an AO.
Dr Gellatly is currently involved in a variety of roles within both the public and private sectors in a capacity of consultant, advisor and Board Member. These include:
- Chair of the Redfern Waterloo Authority;
- Chair of Pillar Corporation (NSW Government Superannuation administration);
- Member of the State Water Board;
- Appointed as an Administrator of Wollongong City Council, March 2008;
- Director, NSW Rugby League Board;
- Chair of the NSW Government’s Ethanol Taskforce; and
- Chair of the NSW Government’s Rural and Regional Taskforce.
