Dr Brian Denman
Brian Denman is Senior Lecturer in Educational Leadership and Comparative Education and Course Coordinator of Training and Development at UNE’s School of Education. His particular areas of expertise are educational systems, educational planning and policy studies, international higher education policy, and comparative education research.
Currently, Denman teaches within the Contextual Studies group at UNE’s School of Education. Since joining UNE in 2003, he has served as Visiting Professor at Minzu University of China (2012), Hiroshima University (2011), IIEP UNESCO Fellow (2008), Executive Council member of the World Council on Comparative Education Societies (2004-2011), Editor-in-Chief of the International Education Journal: Comparative Perspectives (2007-2011), and President of the Australian and New Zealand Comparative and International Education Society (2006-2009).
Denman continues to work closely with colleagues whose research activity is related to comparative and international higher education in the Asia-Pacific region. His most recent work involves educational access, equity and opportunity in the Asia-Pacific, the internationalisation of higher education, educational leadership, and network capital.
Denman is currently serving his second term as an elected academic member of UNE Council (2010 to present). He has served as a non-voting member on the Audit and Risk Committee (2010-11) and is now serving as a voting member on the Finance Committee (2012 – present).
