Mr Ben Crough

Ben Crough

Ben Crough is a 4th and final year Pharmacy student. He is one of the first cohorts to go through the new program at UNE and is originally from Tamworth. Ben has lived on and off campus whilst studying internal and external units.

Ben has a passion for rural health and was  the Secretary of the National Rural Health Students Network for 2012, here he worked with Rural Health Workforce Australia on national rural health issues, activities and the National University Rural Health Conference which was funded by Dept’ Health and Ageing. This role saw Ben advocate for health students at Parliament house and throughout the year write and prepare position papers and submissions. Ben most recently made input into National roundtable briefings for rural health and discussed issues with the Minister for Health.

Ben has also taken part in activities all around Australia from prac and conferences in WA and TAS to promoting health careers to high school students in the NT. He also has had training and experience in dealing with the Media including radio, papers and national magazines.

Ben has a passion for all things rural and strives to make other students consider going rural/remote in any career. Finally Ben has worked in retail for many years learning about marketing, stock and customer services whilst servicing a rural community which has made him aware of rural culture, lifestyles and economics.
