The Bachelor of Sports Studies will help you develop a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of sport, health exercise. It will equip you with skills that can be applied to a broad range of career paths, across a range of sport and leisure related professions.
Our teaching and research laboratories are housed within SportUNE, one of the largest regional sporting precincts in Australia. Our staff are active researchers, providing you with varying opportunities to engage with current research in the field.

The Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science begins with a foundation in human anatomy and physiology which underpin further study in the applied sciences of exercise physiology, biomechanics and motor control and learning. You will develop expertise in the acute and chronic responses to physical activity and exercise, and their implications for health and athletic performance. This is combined with training in clinical exercise testing, exercise prescription and client management, which is consolidated during a 140-hour work experience placement in the community.
On completion of the degree you will have the skills to pursue a career in sport and health related fields and be eligible for membership with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) as an Exercise Scientist, with the option to apply for accreditation as a Sports Scientist, following the completion of additional workplace training/experience.

The Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science begins with a foundation in human anatomy and physiology which underpin further study in the applied sciences of exercise physiology, biomechanics and motor control and learning. You will develop expertise in the acute and chronic responses to physical activity and exercise, and their implications for health and athletic performance. This is combined with specific training in exercise prescription for complex and/or chronic disease and injury management. As part of the degree you will complete 500 hours of clinical experience.

The Bachelor of Sports Studies is an exciting course that develops a comprehensive understanding of the academic and applied aspects of sport, health and exercise. From the second year of the degree you can opt to study a specialist major in either Sports Management or Physical Education, depending on your career goals.
Alternatively, you can elect not to specialise but to follow the general program in Sports Studies. This will allow you to gain a broad range of practical skills, personal attributes and intellectual capacities that can be applied to a range of future career paths spanning many sport and leisure related professions or the ability to pursue further postgraduate study. Areas of study include human biology, biomechanics, psychology, nutrition and sports coaching.
