Research and facilities
Research is focused on the science of agriculture and the management of the rural environment with established strengths in agricultural and animal sciences. UNE is ideally located to study agriculture. We are in the heart of one of the best sheep and cattle production regions with most mainstream agricultural enterprises on our doorstep. UNE has two agricultural research stations adjacent to the campus with another station located at Warialda on the north-west slopes of NSW. These stations are used regularly in teaching and research. UNE is situated close to the spectacular gorge country of the New England with its extensive range of wildlife. Tamworth, 100 km from Armidale, is home to the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre (AELEC).
