Furthering your studies
Studying beyond a bachelor degree will provide you with a range of benefits that you may not be aware of. UNE offers a wide range of courses that you may choose to follow up with after the completion of your bachelor degree, in either a related subject area or one that is new to you altogether.
By furthering your studies, you will have the opportunity to build up your knowledge in areas that you have found have interested you during the course of your bachelor studies or some other program. UNE offers comprehensive research programs in any discipline which will allow you to carry out research for yourselves in areas that truly interest you.
Studying a postgraduate program shows potential employers, that you have extensive knowledge, higher levels of proficiency and a wider set of skills, which will in many ways put you ahead when you go for that next job interview. Studying further in your chosen discipline will definitely make a positive difference on your CV.
Choosing to undertake further studies will involve a greater level of work but it will be well worth the effort because bigger and better opportunities will be open to you once you graduate.
What the deeper level of study involves:
Postgraduate work generally involves either coursework or research.
Students can take additional coursework on top of their first degrees to learn more about their favourite subject or develop new interest or career paths. Programs vary in length from:
• certificate courses (about one year part-time),
• to postgraduate diplomas (at least one year full time, two years part-time), and
• coursework masters (anywhere between one year full-time to approximately three years part-time).
Students can also undertake post graduate programs through research:
• Honours programs to extend your bachelor degree
• Masters for a deeper level of study
• PhD for a significant body of research work in a particular field
Inquiries about research programs should be directed initially to the Head of the relevant School. When you make your inquiry, please indicate the degree(s) that you already hold, the program in which you would like to enrol, and the research area that interests you.
Scholarships are also available to fund your study and for more information please visit the scholarships site.
