Your Life

We want you to get the most out of your life while you are here at UNE. So we provide plenty of opportunities to make your life as rich as possible.

Armidale’s a great little town to come and study in. It’s cheaper and doesn’t have the pressures of bigger cities. You can be yourself here and do pretty much anything you like.

Living in college, if you can, is the ideal way to study. It’s cheaper than living in town, you have great meals cooked for you and they give you lots of support. They take care of things so you can focus on studying. All colleges accept older residents, with some offering double beds, share flats or more private bathrooms. Take a tour and speak to the college staff about any facilities or services you may require to live on campus.

There is always a strong cohort of non-school leavers on campus for you to socialise and study with. If you have children there is the Mums@UNE support group (dads can join in too).

There’s lots of different events, drama and musicals, concerts, and art to see in and around Armidale. Social clubs such as Zonta, Apex, Lions, Rotary or Toastmasters are all here, as well as a strong bridge club, a jazz club and lots of other groups you can get involved with.

The sporting facilities at SportUNE are just as good, if not better, than most universities, and there are lots of sporting clubs competing in all kinds of competitions. Cycling and walking are also popular pastimes, with lots of nearby national parks for nature lovers.

Plus UNE has the most flexible studying options you will find: you can study one subject at a time or full time, switching and changing how you study as many times as you like to fit in with your life.
