Studying for yourself

You don’t need to have a specific career goal in mind to study at University. Many non-school leavers start studying simply for their own personal growth.

Studying for yourself is very liberating – you can study whatever you like. You may want to start by studying something you already know something about or a completely different subject. You can at UNE.

Most people who are studying for themselves will enrol in a broad degree – like a Bachelor of Arts – which allows you to select from a huge range of courses offered by UNE. You will probably find as you start studying that subjects you never thought about before will grab your interest. Once you have started you can change study areas or even degrees fairly easily, and count those units you have already completed towards your degree.

UNE’s flexible studying options mean you can tailor how you study to suit you. Want to take a break? No problem. Want to study part of your degree on campus and part of it by distance? No problem. Want to just potter along studying one subject at a time? No problem.

The best thing about studying for yourself at UNE is that it is supported and engaging. There is plenty of help and advice should you need it, just ask.
