Networking with fellow distance education students
UNE works hard to support and facilitate communication between students and staff online with discussion boards and multiple email lists for the distribution of information through the university community.
We believe that discussion is one of the best ways to learn – but we also want to enable our distance education students to network with their fellow students as much as possible.
myUNE
Within the blackboard component of myUNE you will find a discussion board for each subject and often one for the general area you are studying.
While most of the discussion will be around your assignments, reading and exams, most will also have a social introductions or chat thread. Don’t be shy – introduce yourself and start chatting.
Kate UNE
You can find Kate UNE on Facebook, Kate is your virtual contact to UNE, there for you to get convenient reminders and ask quick questions through Facebok.
Kate is mainly there for potential students of UNE, but is friends with current and past students too. Have a look at Kate UNE's groups to find and connect with other students.
Networking Events
Some subjects will hold networking events, often associated with intensive schools. These will usually be organised using the discussion boards in Blackboard or your lecturer will email you.
