Orientation is your introduction to student life at UNE. Find out about Learning Support, finalise your administrative matters, familiarise yourself with library and IT facilities and meet representatives from the services which support you as a student.

Thursday 24th July 2008 - Orientation Day

Location: Oorala Aboriginal Centre

9:00 am - 10:00 am International Students Orientation

This session will give you information on Visa and National Code requirements; how to get your UNE ID card; what International Services can do for you; plus a bag full of ‘goodies’ to keep and use.

10:00 am - 11.00 am Settling in to UNE (all students)

Get the ‘heads up’ on what starting university is all about. Find out what lies ahead for most students in the next few months. Find out about the many student support services on campus.

Discover how to get the social and study balance right.

11.00 am - 11.15 am Morning Tea

11.20 am – 12:50 pm Academic Skills Preparation

If you have come straight for high school or if you have been away from study for a number of years, studying at university can be quite challenging. This session introduces you to the academic support available at UNE to help you take control of your learning. You will be introduced to academic writing, referencing and how to avoid plagiarism. Tune-up these essential skills early to make a smooth start to the semester.

2:00 pm  Introduction to Armidale International Association (for International Students)

Location: Learning Commons, Dixson Library

2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Library and IT Sessions

You need to know how to use the Library and how to access your IT services. The University Library offers access to electronic resources, loans, advice on searching for information and a range of other services. Find out how to use the library and IT services. Find out about the Turnitin software, you will be required to use this when submitting assignments.
