In 2012, UNE introduced a Student Services and Amenities Fee for all students as a result of the Higher Education Legislation Amendment (Student Services and Amenities) Bill 2010, which was passed by the Senate on 11 October, 2011.
The legislation allows Universities to charge students a 'Student Services and Amenities Fee' up to a maximum of $263.00 per year from 2012 and will be indexed on an annual basis. The fee will be used to help cover the cost of student services including food, sports and recreation, childcare, counselling, legal, health, housing and employment as well as independent student representation structures.
Eligible students will have the option of taking out a loan for the fee under the SA-HELP scheme. Students wishing to apply for the HELP scheme will need to return the SA-HELP form by the due date for the relevant teaching period.
Who Pays the Student Services and Amenities Fee?
- All Domestic On-Campus Coursework Students (excepting students studying cross-institutionally with UNE from another institution)
- All Domestic Distance Education Coursework Students (excepting students studying cross-institutionally with UNE from another institution)
