Gardens Maintenance
With the imminent expiration of the contracts for University Gardens maintenance, a new contract has been Tendered. Tender offers are now being evaluated, ready for award of one or more Contracts to commence on 01 January 2012.
The University Grounds and Gardens are the first visual impression that visitors have of the University, and FMS strive to ensure that they are presented in their best condition at all times.
Agronomy Switchboard
FMS will be replacing the main switchboard at W023 (Agronomy) in early December. This is part of FMS programme of continual improvement, to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of utilities to University facilities.
Replacement of Sub Station Transformers
Essential Energy will be replacing the transformers at the Riggs building sub-station early in December, to bring the space up to today’s safe working environment requirements. This follows work earlier this year when Essential Energy installed a new Ring Main Isolator in the grassed area below C012 Rural Futures
Closure of Town Gas Supply
With the closure of Town Gas supply by Kleenheat, FMS had to convert 12 buildings to either bottled LPG or the Synthetic Natural Gas (SNG) network. This required not only confirming the integrity of existing pipe work in the buildings and then connection onto then new gas supply, but the conversion of existing appliances to the new gas (cooking equipment etc) and purchase of new equipment (e.g. bunsen burners).
Waterproofing Walkways at T C Lamble
After many years of minor movement, the paved walkway along the front of TC Lamble leaked storm water into Finance Services Dept below. This is now being addressed with the application of a waterproofing membrane product, which is designed to expand and contract with the movement of the building and it components, to provide many years of dry times for Financial Services.
C-Bus Controllers
FMS staff undertook a 3 day training course in December for the new Clipsa C-Bus electronic controllers which are to be installed in the new Pharmacy building, Education building Lecture Theatre & Tablelands Clinical Education Centre when it is built next year. This is training provided valuable knowledge about the new technology & its use.
