Space Utilisation Studies

Lewis Lecture Theatre

Any significant requirement of the University’s Built environment requires a Space Utilisation Study to be undertaken and Space Management Committee approval. This process is underpinned the University’s Space Allocation Policy and has the following stages:

  • Capture: gathers all the information about the physical environment required for the Audit. The floor plan of each floor of each building along with School, Discipline and Entity and Staff member which within the precinct is captured and measured accurately and amended.
  • Verification: analysis is undertaken through the gathering of organisational information to ensure that the capture has gathered all the required information to commence analysis.
  • Analysis: utilises all the information that has been captured and verified and undertakes the process of measuring how effectively and efficiently the entity utilise space. This is achieved through assessing the condition and attributes of the built infrastructure and an assessment of utilisation and functionality.
  • Synthesis: creates a series of strategic scenarios that map how the entity will utilise the precinct into the future.

Space Utilisation Studies have been successfully complete for the Faculty of Education, Health and Professional Studies and the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
