Facilities Management Information System

In 2005 FMS commenced the implementation of Archibus/FM.  A key driver behind the system selection process was the recognition that we needed a system that was a single technology FM platform that could be interfaced with other enterprise systems such as Finance, HR and Timetabling. We recognised very early on that we would not have the capital to interface two ‘best of breed’ systems and then spend even more interfacing it with the other enterprise systems.

Some of the key requirements of our system have been to achieving an extensive suite of reports, before resorting to third party report writers, running off an oracle platform, modular so that it could grow with us and be used to its full capacity thus avoiding redundancy, user friendly, it had to  be able to be customised with local support.

FMS have either implemented or are in the process of implementing the following modules:

  • Space Management and AutoCAD Overlay Modules
  • Building Operations Module
  • Condition Assessment Module

FMS recently presented the paper ‘The journey towards Total Asset Management’ outlining our approach at the 2006 Tertiary Education Management Conference
