Recycling & Waste

Comprehensive waste management is a key aspect of the sustainable vision at UNE. Many different waste streams have been identified and it is a goal to reduce total waste going to landfill by 20% by 2013. In 2008, 140t of paper was recycled and 517t of waste was landfill. Subsequently the university has engaged in implementing a standardised waste and recycling system the university to provide parity with NSW DECC waste signage standards. This is in accordance with management strategies

Cardboard Recycling

Cardboard collection cages are provided at various locations around campus.  Staff will need to take all cardboard down to these cages for collection by the contractor. They are emptied by the contractor on a weekly basis.

To make things easier, please ensure that all cardboard boxes are flattened before they are put into the cage. This will ensure the maximum amount of cardboard will fit into the cage.

For further information on cardboard recycling, contact the FMS Cleaning Supervisor, Ext 2467
