Distinguished Visitors at the Law School

Since its inception in 1993, UNE School of Law has received many distinguished visitors. They often take the opportunity to present seminars as part of the Kirby Seminar Series, including the eponymous High Court justice himself, to collaborate in the research activity of the School or the Australian Centre for Agriculture and Law, or to contribute to the School’s undergraduate or postgraduate teaching. Recent and imminent visitors include:

Stephen Guest, Professor of Legal Philosophy at the Faculty of Laws, University College London. Professor Guest delivered a Kirby Seminar at the School on 4 May 2004, and the University’s Annual Sir Frank Kitto Lecture on 3 May 2004, and also contributed to the Residential School for Jurisprudence.

John Becker, Professor of Agricultural Economics and Law from Penn State University, who is visiting the Australian Centre for Agriculture and Law from 30 January 2005 to 19 February 2005 as a Fulbright Senior Specialist Fellow. Professor Becker will be delivering seminars through the AgLaw Centre, contributing to the development of the Centre and conducting comparative research between Australia and the USA on the effect of the relevant restrictive trade practices laws on the industrialisation of agriculture.
