Results and Grades

During a semester you will undertake one or more pieces of assessment. For each piece of assessment you will be given a result for your work. The sum of all your work will be used to calculate your final result in the unit.

At the end of each semester, the unit co-ordinator recommends what your final result should be to the Faculty’s Board of Examiners. It is up to the Board of Examiners to confirm that grade. Once the Board of Examiners have approved the results they are posted to you – in hard copy and online – by the Student Centre. Neither the School of Law nor your unit co-ordinator can release your final results before they are officially released by the University.

For most units you will be given a graded pass. The grades are based on your final marks in the unit as follows:

Mark Grade Result code
< 50% Fail N
50 to 64.5% Pass P
65 to 74.5% Credit C
75 to 84.5% Distinction D
85 to 100% High Distinction HD
