myUNE Handy Hints

Make sure you have worked out which units you are going to enrol in before you log in, the Course and Unit Catalogue can be found at: http://une.edu.au/courses/.

Remember to turn pop up blockers off while you are enrolling online.

Do you need to change your address or personal details? You can do so online through myUNE using the links under myInfo called ‘Personal Details’ and ‘Addresses’ .

Enrolling through myUNE should only take around 15 minutes if you have selected your units before you log in.

When searching for units, if you are unsure of the full unit code you may find it helpful to search just on the first part of the unit code. For example, if you search on GSB, you will return a list of all unit codes that begin with GSB.

Be careful that you select the unit in the correct Trimester, 2009/T1 means that the unit is offered in Trimester 1 2009, 2009/T2 means the unit is offered in Trimester 2 2009.

Units that are offered both ON campus and OFF campus will appear more than once in your search. Under the heading ‘Class’ you will see the options of OL, ON or OFF, and you need to choose the correct unit according to whether you want to study the unit online, on campus or off campus by distance education, the majority of GSB units will have a Class of OFF.

1.   Once you have completed your enrolment online (applies to whole year). Please note this will be your enrolment for the entire year.

2.   Order Text from http://www.ucb.net.au/.

3.   Go to www.une.edu.au  and select myUNE from the Quick Links on the bottom left hand side of the screen. This will allow you to view your enrolment information and your unit materials if they are available prior to them being sent out. See Student Portal Section for details.

4.   Receive invoice for payment and pay by the due date specified. For Trimester 1, invoices will be posted in late January.

5.   If you need to vary your enrolment for any Trimester please use the Online enrolment procedure but keep the principal dates in mind. You can view the principal dates and current GSB Unit Schedule at http://www.une.edu.au/gsb/unit_schedules.php.

Teaching Material

Teaching material will be despatched from mid-December onwards for Trimester 1 and a month before the commencement of Trimesters 2 and 3. Materials are shipped on a per unit basis. Consequently, if you have enrolled in more than one unit, your materials will not arrive together. You may receive your materials very early in some trimesters and closer to the start of trimester at other times. Despatch is handled by our Teaching and Learning Centre. It is impossible to be specific about which units will ship first and when they will ship. Do not regard the teaching material as late unless it has not arrived by the start of trimester.
You are asked to check the contents of each batch of teaching material immediately after receipt to make sure that you have received everything on the packing list and that all of your material is in good condition.

If your materials are sent to a home address the package will be held at the local post office if someone is not there to sign for it. A card will be left indicating where it should be collected. If you are concerned that your materials are late or have been lost, please check with the post office before contacting the GSB . We accept responsibility for materials to the point at which they are signed for. If they are sent to your work address it is your responsibility to liaise with your mail room to ensure that you receive the materials.

If your materials have not arrived by the start of trimester, please contact us immediately. If materials are sent late due to delays at UNE, we will advise the academic staff accordingly so that they can grant assignment extensions where necessary. When possible, we will post information on Blackboard to allow students to commence studies even though the full materials may not be available.

Customs Duty for students residing overseas
The GSB does not pay customs duty on the delivery of materials. The reasons for this are that most students residing overseas do not get charged any customs duty and if they do the amount varies. There is no equitable way that this charge can be determined in the fees payable. It depends on the country the student resides in and sometimes it varies, even in that same country. The additional two hundred dollars that a student residing overseas is charged covers the administration and organisation of examination venues.

Delayed or Late Materials

Should your enrolment be held up for any reason your unit material will also be delayed. If you are worried about the late arrival of teaching material you should check with your local post office before making contact with the GSB Office. If you have not received your teaching material by the first day of the trimester in which the unit is taught, please contact the GSB office.

Though we try to ensure that all units are sent in time for the commencement of the trimester there are occasions where units are dispatched late. When this occurs we notify all enrolled students by email prior to the start of the trimester. We will place as much material as possible onto Blackboard so that you can commence study at the beginning of the trimester. Readings cannot be placed onto Blackboard due to copyright restrictions. We will endeavour to send texts ahead of the unit notes if the unit will be late.

Class Lists

Class lists are available on the myUNE student portal under the myStudy tab. Information will be listed for those studentswho have agreed to release it.

You are urged to form discussion groups if you can, but remember that they are not to be regarded as a substitute for, but rather as a complement to, correspondence and other forms of interaction with your unit lecturer or tutor in Armidale. It is often practical to form self-help groups which meet in private houses or at convenient local institutions, with the leadership of enthusiastic members. For many students the informal group which meets irregularly, contacting two or three others by telephone as the need arises, has been very useful.

Enrolment variations, cancellations and withdrawal

If you change your mind about which unit to enrol in you can contact the GSB in writing to advise of your intention to change. We will organise the variation for you. If you have already received materials for the original unit you will be required to return those to us at your expense. If you vary your enrolment close to the beginning of the new trimester we cannot guarantee that you will receive the materials on time for the commencement of the trimester. As this is your choice, you may not be entitled to special concessions on assignment extensions.

  • Withdrawals will follow the FEE-HELP census date as a guide.
  • Students are able to cancel their enrolment up to the end of week 4 of trimester will receive a 100% refund of fees paid.
  • Withdrawals after week eight will incur an academic penalty. That is, your record will read that you have withdrawn with failure. This is an academic grade only and does not affect the Credit average requirement for the Graduate Certificate in Management students.
  • Please refer to the principal dates on the current year's unit schedule at http://www.une.edu.au/gsb/unit_schedules.php.

The above information is subject to change as new government legislation is introduced necessitating change to the fee structure. The GSB will endeavour to keep students informed of these changes as they occur and will have a period of time to introduce any changes while still administering the existing fee arrangement.
