About the faculty

The Faculty of The Professions offers courses that encourage world class graduates via its accessible network of teaching staff, and its innovative environment that is a strength on which the University's reputation is founded. We cover a wide range of professions including Medicine, Law, Business, Economics, Education, Social Work and Nursing though courses provided by the following Schools:

UNE Business School, School of Education, School of Health, School of Law, and School of Rural Medicine.

The faculty has established a long and well recognised tradition through its internal and externally offered courses, and its alumni graduates. These web pages describe the wide ranging courses offered at the undergraduate and postgraduate coursework level. The Faculty also supports a large number of international higher degrees students from the United States, Bhutan, the South Pacific, Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, Thailand, the Middle East and Europe.

You will find out more from our page for international students, and also about our distance education PhD program available to international students.

Research

The Faculty of The Professions has a rich tradition in research and regularly receives external funding. Furthermore, we have fostered and enjoy a vibrant postgraduate student community. The Faculty has internationally recognised Centres of research and many staff are editors and or host key academic journals in business, health and education. Find out more about our Research Centres and activities.

Research and community impact: The Faculty also supports projects that have local and global community impact such as the Nepal project, Empower Nepali Girls, that is improving the life circumstances of women.

Learning and Teaching

An important part of UNE's high quality academic experience is its commitment to teaching and learning. With one of the lowest staff-to-student ratios among Australian universities, the Faculty of The Professions provides opportunities for students to interact more easily with student peers and academic staff, promoting discussion and effective learning.
