The Faculty has a rich tradition in Research. For example research conducted by staff in Economics (School of Business Economics and Public Policy) is internationally recognised; the Australian government funds the National Centre of Science, Information and Communication Technology, and Mathematics Education for Rural and Regional Australia (SiMERR); staff in Higher Education (School of Business Economics and Public Policy) are collaborators with The Martin Institute at the University of Melbourne (funded by the Commonwealth Government); and Staff in the School of Health are part of the establishment of a WHO collaborating centre of expertise in Thailand in Health Service Management in association with Naresuan University.

UNE's Targetted Research Areas

The Leading Rich Media Project funded by ALTC - Leading Rich Media project investigated the viability, sustainability, scalability and pedagogy of video communications in higher education. It is a collaborative project led by the University of New England and funded by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC). The other institutions involved in the project are The University of Queensland, University of Wollongong and the Australian Academic Research Network Pty Ltd (AARNet).
