The Academic Director

The Faculty of The Professions' Academic Director is
Associate Professor Stephen Winn.

The Academic Director:

  • reports to the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean (PVC/Dean) of the Faculty, currently Professor Victor Minichiello; and
  • works closely with the PVC/Dean, the Heads of Schools in the Faculty of The Professions, the Academic Director of the Faculty of Arts and Science, the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students & Social Inclusion) and staff of the Directorates, including the Teaching & Learning Centre, Student Administration & Services and the Corporate Intelligence Unit.

The Academic Director provides leadership, oversight and coordination of:

  • course profiles,
  • coursework programs,
  • teaching and learning,
  • student appeals.

The Academic Director creates and supports academic collaborations with:

  • other Universities; and
  • Faculties and Schools, for example, sharing coursework programs and teaching resources; and facilitates compliance with strategic and policy frameworks relating to coursework,teaching and learning and student activities managed at the School or Faculty level.

In addition the position works with the Academic Quality Assurance system and service quality standards, and supports innovations in teaching and learning. The Academic Director has a responsibility to attract considerable external funding and provide high level academic vision that fosters and supports innovative change including:

  • the effective use of technologies to support teaching;
  • development of new and cutting-edge types of curriculum, cutting-edge
    innovative pedogogy in teaching and learning;
  • development of new business and partnership arrangement;
  • scholarship in the field of teaching and learning; and
  • contributing to strategy and policy development at the University level.
