Faculty of Arts and Sciences
The Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the University of New England covers a wide range of disciplines across arts, humanities and social, basic, environmental, computing and rural sciences. We are strong in teaching and offer programs in both internal and external mode. We are also proud of our research achievements and collaborative activity, with extensive interaction with co-located partners comprising the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries and other government research groups, numerous spin-off and commercial companies plus the headquarters of three CRCs in Sheep, Beef and Poultry. Faculty staff members are also involved in a number of other CRCs including spatial information, cotton, weeds, pork and irrigation futures. In addition to the UNE campus, we operate across the UNE Rural Properties and at the National Marine Science Centre at Coffs Harbour, the latter in collaboration with Southern Cross University.
Details of all of these programs and more can be found on this web site.
Recent achievements of note by staff members of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences include the discovery of the new hominin species Homo floresiensis in Indonesia by Professors Mike Morwood and Peter Brown. Professor Iain Davidson has been selected as the next Visiting Professor of Australian Studies at Harvard, and Associate Professor Jeremy Bruhl will be the next Australian Botanical Liaison Officer at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. We also boast a number of Fellows of distinguished Academies including Lesley Rogers, Alan Atkinson, Iain Davidson, Mike Morwood, Peter Forrest, Greg Horsley, Cliff Goddard, Jim Walmsley, Michael Bittman and Majella Franzmann.

Innovation in Teaching and Learning Seminar Series
A seminar series exploring innovation in teaching and learning aims to stimulate critical thinking and collegial discussion about recent innovations in teaching and learning. It will provide an important opportunity for UNE staff, students, and the general public to learn about new developments in pedagogy and technology.
