Animal behaviour, especially during grazing, and the reproductive management of farm animals are important aspects of sustainable livestock production systems.

Research on the management of reproduction includes understanding the physiology of pregnant ewes leading to management strategies to ensure the survival of new born lambs.

Whole farmlet studies of pasture and grazing management have allowed us to understand the interactions between pasture establishment, soil fertility, pasture persistence, grazing pattern, animal production and internal parasites together with the effects of labour and capital expenditure on whole-farm economic outcomes.
