Who is the Pathways Enabling Course for and what is it about? Answer

The UNE Pathways Enabling Course will give you the skills and the confidence that you need if you don't have the educational background for admission to an undergraduate course at UNE.

If you have not previously completed any part of a university course, and if you want to be better prepared for undergraduate study then this is the course for you.

What does the Pathways Enabling Course consist of? Answer

UNE Pathways Enabling Course consists of two Foundation units that provide the basic skills and knowledge required for successful first year university study: Foundation 101 and Foundation 102; plus two faculty-based units called Pathways units. The latter may later be able to be credited towards your undergraduate degree. These units are selected from a list containing subjects in each faculty and major courses. Note that each of the faculty-based units has a foundation unit as a co-requisite.

How is the Pathways Enabling Course offered? Answer

UNE Pathways Enabling Course is available by distance education (with an optional residential school) commencing in Semester 1, 2008 for the duration of one year, part-time. You will need a computer and internet access to do this course.

Residential School
The Foundation units have optional residential schools in April (FNDN 101) and September (FNDN 102). Check the residential school requirements of the Pathways units.

Is there tutoring and mentoring support available? Answer

Participants in the Pathways Enabling Course will be provided with additional learning and mentoring support by the UNE Faculty Mentors and Faculty staff.

Will successful completion of the Pathways Enabling Course allow admission to an undergraduate course at UNE? Answer

Completion of the UNE Pathways Enabling Course provides the basis for admission to most undergraduate course at UNE. In the case of combined degrees there may be additional requirements. Contact the Student Centre for more information.

Does the Course offer credit towards an undergraduate degree at UNE? Answer

If you complete faculty-based units in the Pathways Enabling Course which are part of the degree you later choose to enrol in, you will receive credit for those units. The two Foundation units will not count towards any degree but they will provide you with the skills and confidence required for successful undergraduate study.

Students are exempt from tuition fees for this course.
