IPM Responsibilities: Dixon Library

Responsibility: to provide Library services to teaching partnerships and international projects based on three principles:

  • That all UNE-enrolled students have access to an equitable level of service whether located domestically or overseas.
  • The Library's policy on services to international projects involving non-UNE enrolled students, Guidelines for Library Services to Offshore Students.
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements such as the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act.
Note: The main format for providing library resources to distant students is electronic - via E Reserve, online exam papers, and access to licensed databases. 

UPMP

Inputs:

  • Scoping Document

Outputs:

  • Report on the availability, legal issues, and projected cost of providing services to students.

Entrepreneurial Committee

Inputs:

  • Business Plan

Outputs:

  • Cost estimate on the provision of adequate library services
  • Advice on resources required, including textbooks and extra copies of publications.

Contract Negotiation

Inputs:

  • Draft Contract

Outputs:

  • Incorporation in the project agreement of library policy documentation or wording describing level of library service to be provided by UNE or by an alternate source.

Annual IPM Report

Inputs:

  • Collection of statistics on usage and anecdotal evidence regarding library service levels.

Outputs:

  • Report expressed demand for library services; review level and type of services provided.
  • Report on unmet demand; purchase copies of requested resources that could not be supplied to requestors within library standards; adjust service levels according to report.

Ongoing

Inputs:

  • Monitoring of usage.

 Outputs:

  • Maintain statistics of usage by UNE students enrolled at partnerships.
  • Advice of policy on library service level in response to enquiries; discussion of comments about the agreed level of library service to the Project team; re-negotiation of service level agreement if required; if funded by project, library staff can make site visits and develop site-specific handouts for students.
  • Update library web site if project-specific pathways or information are required; face-to-face instruction if agreed.
