IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who seek to study or work where English is the language of communication. The University of New England operates an accredited IELTS Testing Centre through the English Language Centre. Important Information
Please read the following:
| All test places after 1 July 2010 will cost $330 (GST free), or $363 (including GST). The GST form will tell you how much you need to pay, depending on why you are sitting the IELTS test. |
| All Dubbo tests have an additional $100 non-refundable administration charge. THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO DUBBO TESTS PLANNED FOR 2012; however this is subject to demand and may change. |
| We prioritise applicants from rural and regional NSW. |
| We reserve the right to cancel tests at any time, although we will offer alternative dates to candidates who have already booked in advance. |
| Please check the available UNE Test dates before sending your application to make sure places are available. |
| The Listening, Reading and Writing tests are conducted in a large hall without individual head-phones. If you have problems with your hearing, please contact us before applying to sit the test at our Centre. |
| Speaking tests are held on the same day as the Listening, Reading and Writing. Candidates who are travelling a long distance for their test will receive the EARLIEST possible speaking test time. |
| Until further notice, results are released the 13th day after the test date, meaning that posted results will arrive 17 or 18 days after the test. You will be advised by email if the results will be delayed. Local candidates can collect their results from Reception at UNE International at 12:00 pm on the 13th day after the test. |
| It is now a requirement in Australian IELTS Test Centres that candidates provide a fingerprint scan at test day registration. This is outlined in the Terms and Conditions at the back of the IELTS application form. Please contact our IELTS Office should you like further information on providing your fingerprint on test days. |

IELTS Testing at UNE
At UNE IELTS tests in Armidale, we provide all 4 test modules on the same day (Saturday). In Armidale, local candidates will be allocated the later speaking tests, to allow people travelling a long distance time to return home.
When we receive your application and your place is confirmed, we will email you and send you a postal confirmation, with a map to assist you in finding your IELTS test.

Special Assistance
If you have a condition for which you require special assistance (e.g. a hearing problem, wheelchair access, etc) you MUST complete point 22 on page 2 of the application form and provide supporting medical documentation. Any request for special assistance must be preapproved by the IELTS Office before the test day.
Listening, Reading, and Writing Modules
Registration for the Listening, Reading, and Writing modules starts at 08:00am and closes at 08:45am, and the test starts at 09:00am sharp. The morning's session finished at about 12:15pm, then there is a break before the Speaking interviews.
Speaking Interviews
The first Speaking interviews start at 01:30pm. Each Speaking interview takes about 15 minutes, and candidates should arrive to register about 10 minutes before their test time.
UNE Exit Tests
The University of New England will be offering an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test (at no extra charge - no test fee, no deposit, no booking fee) to all exiting UNE International students in 2012.
- If you are finishing your program at the end of Trimester 1, 2012, you are eligible to take the IELTS test on 9 June 2012. Applications for this test date close on Friday 18 May 2012.
- If you are finishing your program at the end of Trimester 2, 2012 or in Trimester 3, 2012, you are eligible to take the test on 13 October 2012. Applications for this test date close on Friday 28 September 2012.
To register for this test, please submit your completed application to UNE International Reception (Building E21). Emailed applications CANNOT be accepted by the IELTS Office.
Please make sure that you have completed your application carefully, as incomplete applications will not be processed.
In your application, you MUST include the following:
- UNE IELTS Exit Test Application Form Cover Sheet
- Completed IELTS Application Form (signed on the back)
- TWO passport photos (identical)
- CLEAR photocopy of your current valid passport
