Representation on Committees reporting information
The University must report on the diversity, including gender representation, of consultative and decision-making committees. This information is incorporated into reports to meet the University's legislative requirements.
Government agencies such as the federal Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA), the NSW Workforce Planning, Development & Equity (WPDE) unit, and the Community Relations Commission for a Multicultural NSW (CRC) place importance on all groups within an organisation having input into decision-making and consultative processes, and request feedback on this participation.
Heads of cost centres are asked (each November) to supply information concerning the committees for which their area has responsibility during the current year as follows:
* a list of current committees with
- total membership of each committee
- gender breakdown of membership of each committee, and
- the names of committee members
* as well as
- which member is the Chair of the committee
- whether any member is an ex officio representative
Having the names of members enables us to match members with EEO data information to provide a summary overview of the participation of equity groups in the decision making processes of the University.
Gender representation on committees is expected to be in accordance with UNE's policy on Gender Representation on Decision-Making and Advisory Committees.
