EOWA REPORT

The Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency’s role is to administer the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Act 1999 (Commonwealth) and through education, assist organisations to achieve equal opportunity for women. Organisations that need to comply with the Act are required to report to EOWA on the actions they are taking, and demonstrate the outcomes of their workplace programs which are covered by seven specific employment conditions.

  •  Information for this EOWA report is requested annually (March/April) from all heads of cost centres as per the  EOWA  Information page.

UNE ANNUAL REPORT TO NSW PARLIAMENT

Universities are required to report annually to the NSW Minister for Education in accordance with Section 10 (1) of the NSW Annual Reports (Statutory Bodies) Act, 1984 and Section 34 of the Public Finance and Audit Act, 1983. The Annual Reports are tabled in Parliament in April/May each year.

Amendments made to the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1997 (Part 9A,) and to the NSW Community Relations and Principles of Multiculturalism Act 2000 require that an Equal Employment Opportunities (EEO) Report and an Ethnic Affairs Priority Statement (EAPS) Report form part of the Annual Report.

  • Information required for these compliance reports is requested annually (September/October) from all heads of cost centres as per the  combined EEO/EAPS Information page.

INTERNAL REPORTS

Representation on Committees

The University must report on the diversity, including gender representation, of consultative and decision-making committees. Government agencies such as the federal Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA),  the NSW Workforce Planning, Development & Equity unit (formerly OEED), and the Community Relations Commission (for a Multicultural NSW)  emphasise the importance of all groups within an organisation having input into decision-making and consultative processes. Feedback on this participation is requested by these Agencie.
  • Information required for this report is requested annually (November) from all heads of cost centres

Maternity Leave and Return to Work Survey

This is a confidential survey for women returning to work after Maternity Leave. Information from this survey is used to fine-tune UNE policies and processes in relation to workplace conditions concerning pregnancy and breastfeeding.

EEO Data Survey

This is a confidential survey for all staff. The questionnaire is provided initially with HR letters of offer. A follow up survey of staff who did not respond initially is conducted by EE&D each February.  Anyone who decides they do not wish to take part in the survey are asked to advise the EE&D office of this so that they are not included in follow up surveys. Any staff member whose circumstances change, eg in the case of acquiring a disability, can request a survey form from EE&D at any time to update their details.
