Employment Equity & Diversity
Employment Equity & Diversity is a unit within Human Resource Services and is located in the foyer of the ITD Building. The goal of Employment Equity & Diversity is to promote and progress the University of New England’s commitment to equality of opportunity in the employment of staff by providing advice, assistance and training on equity and diversity issues to staff and management.
The objectives of Employment Equity & Diversity are to:
- Provide advice and training to the University regarding employment and social inclusion.
- Ensure that staff work within an environment that values and actively supports the equity and diversity principles of a discrimination and harassment-free workplace.
- Ensure that any complaints regarding equity and diversity are dealt with promptly, efficiently and confidentially.
- Ensure that decisions relating to staff are based on merit rather than on discriminatory perceptions or assumptions, so as to encourage an organisational culture that will attract high performing and committed staff.
- Ensure that the University of New England complies with the requirements of affirmative action and anti-discrimination legislation and government policies.
- Conduct the University’s equity and diversity compliance reporting.
