The Bachelor of Arts is a generalist degree and allows you choose your areas of study to meet your interests and career goals. More than thirty subject areas are available to you through the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, including English, Communication Studies, Theatre Studies and Writing. Bachelor of Communication Studies
The Bachelor of Communication Studies (three years full time) at UNE offers a balance of academic and vocational education. It explores print, audio, audiovisual and electronic media and allows students to broaden their knowledge of communication practices in various social contexts. Students undertake an integrated program of Communication Studies with the option on including units in related Arts disciplines

Advanced Diploma in Arts
The Advanced Diploma in Arts is designed for those who wish to gain an undergraduate qualification that is shorter in length than the degree of Bachelor.

Bachelor of Arts with Honours
The Bachelor of Arts with Honours is designed to allow well-qualified graduates who have completed an appropriate Bachelor's degree to extend their studies in areas offered by the Faculty, either to improve their career prospects or to proceed to higher degree studies. The Honours program includes coursework as well as a dissertation.

How do I choose units?
Once you are enrolled at UNE, you will need to choose units of study for each semester. What degree you are enrolled in will determine the range of units you can choose from.
It is crucial when you are choosing a unit or course of study that you consider carefully not only its content but also its mode of delivery.

Modes of Delivery
UNE offers both internal (on-campus) and external (off-campus) study. Many units are taught in both internal and external mode.
Internal units are taught by lectures, tutorials, seminars, performance workshops or some combination of these. Some internal units also have an online component.
External units are taught using printed and/or CD-Rom material, and may include residential schools and online components.
