Anne Pender completed her BA (Hons) at the ANU. Her doctoral research was on Christina Stead and her master’s work was in Education. In 2002 she published a book entitled Christina Stead Satirist.

Areas of Teaching

Teaching: Anne has taught at the Australian Defence Force Academy (UNSW) and the Australian National University. She also held a lectureship at King’s College London in 2002-3.

Research interests

Research: Anne’s main research focus is modern and contemporary Australian literature and drama. At present her research interests include the life of Christina Stead, the Bloomsbury Group, the life and work of Barry Humphries and biography and autobiography.

Anne’s other interests include American Literature, Postcolonial Literature and Children’s Literature.

Anne is currently working on a major study of Barry Humphries funded by the Australian Research Council.
