RESEARCH EXPERIENCE AND INTERESTS:

Coastal and Marine: Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM); marine and coastal protected areas (MACPAs), and biosphere reserves, conservationin small island states; seascape ecology, marine environmental and resource policy, Integrated planning across coastal-marine interface (bioregional approaches); tropical marine benthic ecology; systematics, phylogeny, biogeography and chemo-ecology of phyllidiid nudibranchs.

Terrestrial landscapes: Landscape ecology and conservation biology, regional conservation reserve systems planning and management; natural resource policy, development of public policy for management of natural resources and conservation of biodiversity; development of public-private collaborative approaches to sustainable resource management; ecologically restorative industries; sustainable land use and management, and integration of conservation and sustainable resource use and management (Ecologically Sustainable Development - ESD) ; Bioregional planning and management; UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Program; environmental policy and ethics; institutional impediments to ecosystem management; facilitation of institutional and social transformations for sustainability.
